Cyclewise Whinlatter Bike Shop

Great shop, Craig was a legend and stayed late when we showed up at closing time to help my friend with replacements for the contaminated rotor and pads he’d somehow been using for the previous 40km. Good thing too as coming down Whinlatter would have been hairy on just a rear brake!

He then went above and beyond by coming back from home to let us in to the shop again when my other muppet of a friend realised he’d left his phone on the counter!

Summit shelter at Whinlatter (Brown How)

Highlight • Viewpoint

Whinlatter (Brown How) is a 517m fell in the north west Lake District. The summit is marked by a wind shelter with a little stone seat. A great place to stop out of the wind and enjoy a snack and the lovely view! The highest point of Whinlatter is a little further along (at 525m) but it was the Brown How top the Alfred Wainwright chose to include in his guidebooks.

Nice walk through Whinlatter forest, past the Gruffalo Trail although part of it was closed off, and a lovely brew in the cafe. And bagged myself an extra Wainwright along the way:
