There is a small shop and a pub/café. The village was a centre for linen works years gone by. The church yard is nearby .

Roots Farm Shop & Café

Highlight • Restaurant

Very popular with cyclists, good food, bike racks and outdoor seating. Quick service. Must be a ‘well off’ area, as there were some nice bikes on show.

Bench Near Seamer

Highlight • Structure

This used to be a memorial bench and was removed by the local council, we were surprised to see the seat there today but there is no memorial plaque on it now.

There are beautiful views of the River Leven from the bridge here. Nearby, just a minute south of the bridge, there's a monument on the site of a cottage where James Cook (the Captain one) used to live when he was younger. There's a museum in Great Ayton where you can learn more about Cook's early years and education.

Great Ayton is a more sizeable village at the foot of Cleveland Hills and Roseberry Topping, so you'll easily find places to eat and shop here. Situated beautifully within the moors, it's a perfect base from which to start your cycling adventures in the Moors.

The River Leven flows through Great Ayton, so there are some wonderful spots here next to its banks.

Highlight • Historical Site

This is a more sizeable village at the foot of Cleveland Hills and Roseberry Topping, so you will find places to eat and shop here easily. The River Leven flows through Great Ayton, so there are some wonderful spots here next to its banks.

James Cook (as in Captain James Cook) lived in the village as a young boy in the early 18th century, so you will find here his statue as well as The James Cook Schoolroom Museum, which focuses on his early life and education and, of course, his sea-faring adventures.

A great place to be and visit!

All Saints Church, Hutton Rudby

Highlight (Segment) • Religious Site

Nice steep descent out of Hutton Rudby, the descent itself is roughly 0.15 Mile long with a average gradient of -8% peaking at around -16%. Speed found here is useful for getting up Rudby Bank however be careful the road bends round at the bottom and the surface isn't great.
