Located in the Avesnois Regional Natural Park, the Avesnois greenway connects Trélon with Ferrière-la-Grande in the north via Liessies, Solre-le-Château, Lez-Fontaines, Sars-Poteries and Dimont. Along the way, you will discover the landscapes of the Abbé-Val-Joly state forest, the Helpe Majeure valley and the Solre basin. A varied route between nature and heritage.
The Voie Verte de l'Avesnois (Emerald Trail) uses approximately 30 km of the old railway line that opened in 1885 and connected Maubeuge to Fourmies. Closed to passengers in 1969 and to goods in 1976, it is still used occasionally for freight on the Maubeuge-Ferrière-la-Grande and Trélon-Fourmies sections.

Fortified Church of Saint-Martin of Wimy

Highlight • Religious Site

The Église Saint-Martin de Wimy is a Catholic church located in the municipality of Wimy, in the east of the Aisne department. The church was built in the 16th century and is one of the finest examples of a fortified church in the region. The church has a massive donjon with a square plan and a double-pitched roof, flanked at the front by two enormous towers five meters in diameter, all in brick, except for the base of the towers in sandstone. The rest of the church, which extends behind the donjon, is a parallelogram of stone, with numerous restorations in brick. The church has been listed as a historical monument since 1989.

Familistère of Guise

Highlight • Historical Site

Imagined in the 19th century by the industrialist Jean-Baptiste André Godin, the Familistère de Guise is a unique place in France. Conceived as a true “social palace” for the workers of his factory, this architectural complex combines housing, collective spaces, and cultural facilities. Today transformed into a museum and visitor site, the place offers an immersion into the social and industrial history of the Hauts-de-France region.
