Terres Birds is a 120 hectare bird sanctuary located near the port of Callonges, north of the town (at the edge of the town of Saint-Ciers-sur-Gironde). Established in the heart of the wet meadows that border the Gironde estuary, on one of the most important migration routes in France, it is frequented by several hundred birds: little egrets, purple herons, black kites, king kites, kingfishers, shelducks belon, harriers of reeds come to nest there, to winter there or to reproduce there.
