Highlight • Religious Site

The Romanesque church of Santa Maria is located at the foot of Monte Velino at the beginning of the Porclaneta Valley. It was built around the middle of the 11th century and was probably part of a Benedictine monastery.

September 16, 2024,Cammino dei Briganti T. 4 - Cartore, Passo le Forche, Santa Maria in Valle Porclaneta, Rosciolo dei Marsi, Monte Lo Pago, Massa d'Albe
Very panoramic stage at the foot of Velino. Accompanied by the flight of griffon vultures and the bellowing of numerous male deer that, this year, have started the mating season very early. Numerous encounters with wolf-hunting dogs, always resolved in the best possible way. Upon arrival, Paola from the B&B A casa di nonna welcomed us. Kind and helpful.

Showing Translation

It's a shame we couldn't climb the final forest towards Massa d'Albe for about 2 km due to the presence of free dogs along the route. Reported to the organization of the walk. The point where the dogs are found, near a farm, is after the fork in the path that leads to Magliano dei Marsi.
