Strambino Parish Church

The Church has been declared a national monument by the FAI. The project is by Carlo Andrea Rana (1715-1804), Royal Architect, one of the greatest exponents of Piedmontese Baroque (although he was mainly a military engineer).
Construction took place in the years 1764-86, under the meticulous and almost obsessive direction of Rana himself. The plan is made up of the juxtaposition of different environments: the result is a complex organism, with external volumes differentiated but unified by the twin recurrence of buttresses and bands. The alternation of points of view, views and "movements" makes us forget the weight of the decorations typical of Rana's late and voluptuous baroque.
