1898 - Burlo gets its own train station, which had national importance until 1914. The trains and wagons stopped here on their journey between Gelsenkirchen and Amsterdam before the connection was completely shut down in 1996

A very beautiful circular tour from Borken train station via Gemen, Weseke, to Burlo, and into the Netherlands. There are many things to discover. For example, Gemen Castle, a post mill, a farm museum, a marsh, the Pröpstingsee lake, and a cheese dairy. (The cheese platter is highly recommended.) A truly great tour from the book "Cycling for the Soul."
