De Lunterse Boer

Highlight • Restaurant

In 1953, two ladies started a tea house, where they sold lemonade and pine cakes to hikers and tourists. More than 60 years and several owners later, the Lunterse Boer has grown into a hotel, restaurant and conference center. The tree trunk symbolizes the letter L and the green leaves refer to the past to the present. The original teahouse in the tableau is now the entrance to the Lunterse Boer.

Center of the Netherlands

Highlight • Natural Monument

A very cozy place with a reference to the center of the Netherlands. There is also a nice animal park here and a little further in the forest a beautiful lookout tower.

De Bron sculpture, Lunteren

Highlight • Monument

In the flowerbed in front of the Lunteren station building is the artwork The Source by Floor van Dusseldorp. It consists of four elongated, undulating objects that feature a poem by Paul van Ostaijen: “Small the drop / hidden in layers of time / welling up the water / indispensable to humanity.” In the past, a stream ran through this spot. This image from 2015 is a reminder of this. The waves represent the source of the stream. The stainless steel from which the artwork is made sparkles like water.

A route of 250 meters runs from the work to the Dorpsstraat in the center. The pavement is marked with a collection of stainless steel plates. The pictures depict the course of the former stream. At the end of the line there has been another work of art by Van Dusseldorp since 2006: The meander. This work is a winding ribbon of granite in the pavement. The following lines of poetry are printed on the ribbon in stainless steel letters: “Narrow the channel / water from Veluwe to valley / memory flows by / in silver and blue”. The text features small waves of stainless steel. The whole is over 20 meters long.
The source, the meander and the ribbon of the waterline were placed in the context of the municipal visual plan for Lunteren Center from 1999.

A good start is half the battle... Just in the village, sit inside or outside... before going for a bike ride or a walk... enjoy everything there is... coffee, tea, breakfast, brunch and lunch. Or for a picnic on the way. Because all the delicious delicacies are really delicious! Just try to choose from all those cheeses, meats, wine and so on... your taste buds will have a party!

Starting point, or part of many walking and cycling routes.

Cosy centre within walking distance. Delicatessen shop 'Heerlijk' for breakfast, lunch, or coffee and cake. Or to fill up the supplies for the picnic basket on the way. The 'Verrassing' for a delicious dinner. Restaurant 'Lara' for the sublime pizza and other Italian and Turkish delicacies. Dessert at the Portofino ice cream parlour. A bit of shopping at Van Camp for walking shoes and clothing. Lunteren has everything when it comes to shops. Relax in the nearby sauna de Veluwe. Oh, there is so much more in Lunteren. Make it a great day! Or even better: holiday!
