Author of reports on the Holocaust, the so-called Pilecki Reports. Accused and sentenced to death by the communist authorities of the People's Republic of Poland, executed in 1948. The verdict was annulled in 1990. In 2006, he was posthumously awarded the Order of the White Eagle, in 2013 he was promoted to the rank of colonel.
