Schwarzsee (Black Lake)

Highlight • Lake

If the 4km loop around the lake is too short for you, here is an alternative. The lake tour can also be perfectly extended with the tour around Rohrmoos at the beginning of Schwarzsee. At the Gypsera car park, walk up the district street next to the SchwarzseeStärn restaurant where you have a perfect view over the lake. After 1.3 km (from Gypsera) at Schlossisboden turn right at the residential building, follow the yellow hiking trail markings towards the Burstera residential area. After Schlossisboden, the hiking trail is not suitable for strollers for about 200 meters (rough stones). You are on a dirt road for the next 400 meters until you reach the Burstera district. Once you have reached the quarter at the bottom, turn left along the 1.6 km long walk around Rohrmoos and along the Sense hiking trail back to the Gypsera car park. Very worthwhile additional loop with little fuss ;-)
There is also food and drink available directly along the route. The Jailhouse Rohr restaurant serves delicious burgers and more. Restaurant only open in the winter season (from the beginning of December to the end of March), the rest of the year rental premises.
At the health center there is the “fein & sein” where you are well served and have a beautiful terrace that invites you to linger.

Length of the additional loop 4.5 km with 123 meters in altitude. If you leave out the Rohrmoos and only do the part up to Schlossisboden then down to the Burstera district and back along the Sense, the additional loop is 2.8 km with 111 meters in altitude.

Gurnigel Ascent

Highlight • Climb

On the climb to Gurnigel you will enjoy breathtaking Alpine scenery, the road winding through meadows, dense forests and the mountainous landscape of the Gantrisch region. The climb offers stunning views of the Bernese Alps and, if you are hiking in late spring or summer, you will see wildflowers covering the hillsides, adding a splash of colour to your hike.

Gurnigel Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The Gurnigel is a great way to get started in the beautiful world of passes. You drive up a steep incline for a long time and you have to pace yourself.
The journey from Bern doesn't take as long as other passes. At the top you are rewarded with a beautiful view of Lake Thun and the surrounding mountains.
