August 14, 2025,1.Tag Sächsische Schweiz - 1.Etappe Malerweg
The start of our first stage of the Malerwege was in Pirna. We rented accommodation there for the entire duration of the long-distance trail, from where we commuted to the stages using public transport/buses and ferries. This stage ended in the town of Wehlen. From there, we took the ferry and the S-Bahn back to Pirna.
The first day was …

A picturesque start

The Malerweg (Painter's Trail) starts spectacularly: The first stage takes us from Pirna via Liebethal to Stadt Wehlen, offering a taste of the beauty of Saxon Switzerland right from the start.

Even in the romantic Liebethaler Grund (Lower Valley), you can feel the power of nature – moss-covered rocks, babbling brooks, and dense forests accompany the trail. …

In super sunny weather we started today in Bad Schandau with the S 1 to Pirna. From there we walked through the Wesenitzaue to the start of the first stage of the Malerweg, in the Liebethaler Grund. Along the Wesenitz, past the Richard Wagner monument and the Lochmühle, the path continued across meadows and fields. We left the little villages …

Went hiking in Saxon Switzerland again today. Went on a very good, pleasant hike with my friend @Jörg and saw a lot. Our hike started in Pirna at the S-Bahn and went over the Pirna city bridge. Our path continued through part of the city up to Liebethal, which was very interesting. As we went through all the villages up …

Today we largely stuck to the official route on the first stage of the Malerweg, with 2 short detours: the first went to a small waterfall north of Lohmen, the second through the Teufelskammer and Teufelsschlucht. Especially the latter was very interesting, just don't be claustrophobic 🙂
