Ventimiglia Old Town

Highlight • Settlement

Ventimiglia is a seaside town on the Ligurian coast a few kilometers from the French border. It is famous for its medieval old town with the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. I also recommend a walk along the promenade to enjoy a splendid view of the bay and the French Riviera. In the surroundings of the city, the botanical gardens of Villa Hanbury and the archaeological site of Albintimilium, with remains of a Roman theatre and baths, are interesting.

Ventimiglia Coastline

Highlight • Beach

Sit on the beach with a still warm focaccia and just enjoy. The surf is a bit rough but still very nice for swimming.

Beautiful Ligurian market town, a stones throw from the Mediterranean. Its maze of streets and medieval bridge of the Nervia river are among many features which will woo you.

Coming down from the Nervia valley cycle path (Dolceacqua), just before reaching the sea, you will find on the right this cycle-pedestrian bridge that connects Ventimiglia with Bordighera. It is part of the first section of the splendid Tyrrhenian Cycle Route starting from Ventimiglia.

August 13, 2023,Vallecrosia - Buggio
It starts from the Bordighera seafront and takes the cycle path on the Camporosso seafront.
Cross the Nervia and continue taking the Valnervia cycle path up to Dolceacqua (a tour of the old town up to the Doria castle is a must).
If it's time for a coffee, I recommend having a Michetta, typical of Dolceacqua, as a sweet treat …
