The section from Diez to Balduinstein, directly along the river Lahn, is also ideal for families.

Always a nice travel destination. Fine trails can also be found off the bike paths to Balduinstein. 😜

The really nice thing about bike paths is that you can really see something of the area. At a moderate pace we always went along the Lahn. It sometimes flows so slowly that you think you're driving along a long pond. Pure deceleration. Houseboats pull their lanes. That is also still on the agenda. In Obernhof there is delicious ice …

The official Lahn cycle path is unfortunately not finished. On the way there I drove the unofficial narrow trail between Geilnau and Laurenburg. Is greasy and not entirely harmless. The way back was via the official route from Laurenburg uphill to Scheidt and Holzappel (costs grains). Then steep descent to Geilnau. This section leads over the normal road

The S2 has it all. I wouldn't have been able to handle it any other way. Wonderful views and the return trip from Laurenburg is easy and the landscape with the bridges is great if you are really tired🤣
The view of the Schaumburg is so beautiful. I enjoyed it for a long time. Like from another world...

On the Taunus side, on trails that are sometimes adventurous and challenging, to Obernhof.

With Balduinstein, Schaumburg Trails, Steinsberg, Gutenacker 360° View, and Obernhof – back via the Lahn Cycle Path (Taunus to the valley, Westerwald to the valley).

The trails at Schaumburg are all top-notch.

..actually, but shortly before Obernhof the rear wheel was flat, so off to the train station, what did I pay 9 € for🤷‍♂️

A very nice tour, especially if you deviate from the Lahn cycle path, great single trails, vantage points and ruins, absolutely recommendable.
