View of Teggsnose and Bottoms Reservoirs

Highlight • Lake

Tegg’s Nose has a pretty broad summit top. Here on the southern part of the nose is a good view point that has a stunning vantage point that overlooks Teggsnose and Bottoms Reservoirs. The surrounding woodlands and the lush green patchwork quilt of fields along with the two reservoirs make this a picture postcard scene.

Tegg's Nose Quarry

Highlight • Natural Monument

Tegg’s Nose Country Park is an old mining area and hill just east of Macclesfield. It incorporates Tegg’s Nose, a hill with a height of 1,250 feet (380 m), and is the highpoint of the local area with several good viewpoints. The hill was historically mined for millstone grit from the 16th to the mid-20th century. Now disused, there is still a fine collection of old quarrying equipment available on display within the park. It is used for a wide range of recreational activities, and there is a visitors' centre, car park, and toilets just off Buxton.

Tegg's Nose viewpoint

Highlight • Summit

From the 1,214 foot (370 m) summit of Tegg’s Nose you get breathtaking views over Macclesfield Forest, the summit of Shutlingsloe, the Telecoms Tower on Sutton Common, the Macclesfield Canal, and beyond. In clear conditions, views stretch all the way across the Cheshire plain to Liverpool and the Welsh Hills. Within the country park, there is evidence of human activity since the Bronze Age.
