Alto de El Ortigueru

Highlight • Viewpoint

From this point, you have three amazing options, you can go to the coast of Llanes, to the mountains of Cabrales (and its amazing cheese), or to the history of Cangas de Onis and Covadonga.

For me one of the most beautiful and challenging climbs in the region. Perfect roads, only buses and approved taxis are allowed on the route. The view on the way and, of course, the one when you have reached the top compensate everyone who has undertaken this effort. At the top of the lake there is a small bar where you can eat and drink something at normal prices. And not to forget the grandiose descent on a perfect asphalt road 😱😉😊 .... definitely visit the basilica

Lagos de Covadonga

Highlight • Lake

Another beautiful glacial lake located in the Picos de Europa National Park. Like Lake Enol, the best time to visit Lago de la Ercina is in the summer months from July to September, when the weather is pleasant and the lake is not frozen. The views of the lake and surrounding mountains are breathtaking. The scenery is particularly beautiful in the afternoon when the sunlight illuminates the lake.

Queen's Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

The views from the Mirador de la Reina are absolutely stunning. You can see the surrounding mountains and valleys, as well as the winding road leading up to the viewpoint. Due to its popularity, the viewpoint can get crowded during peak tourist season. It's best to arrive early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the crowds.

Cangas de Onís–Panes Road

Highlight • Trail

Some explosives were needed here. A look into the hundreds of meters deep gorge should be enjoyed with caution.
