Highlight • Beach

Along the way you will always discover small beach bays. The path above the sea is very good to walk and can be expanded at will.

La Fontanilla Beach

Highlight • Beach

Longer, wide sandy beach. At low tide you can walk / hike for just under 15 km on the beach ...

In many parts, the sand is quite firm, so it runs well ... 😎

The central eye-catcher in the square is the "Iglesia de Santa Catalina" - built in the 15th century as a church, now Conils Art and Culture Center, where exhibitions of famous artists take place at regular intervals.

Around the square there are several restaurants and pubs that invite you to linger. Cars are very rarely over ...

Guzmán Tower

Highlight • Historical Site

The Torre de Guzmán was built in Conil by Alonso Pérez de Guzmán between the years 1300 and 1307. In 1411 it was then strengthened again. The tower was intended to prevent Conil's enemies from invading the city of Conil de la Frontera. The Torre de Guzmán, along with many other towers also built by de Guzmán, forms a long line of defense along the Costa de la Luz. Among the enemies of the coasts of Cádiz were pirates and barbarians. At the time the tower was built, Conil was briefly renamed Torre Guzmán. Due to tuna fishing, Conil was particularly threatened by invaders, as Conil represented a strategically important point for anglers due to the tuna movements from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.

The tower was built in the Gothic style and is now part of the coat of arms of Conil.

Today we walked from our beautiful vacation home to Conil de la Frontera along beautiful paths above the Atlantic coast.

The old town, with its narrow streets and bustling life, is worth seeing. After exploring, we rewarded ourselves with an iced coffee.
