Cakes are served on the cart that was used to carry T E Lawrence's (aka Lawrence of Arabia) coffin to his final resting place - just a few metres down the road! On the route here you might even ride over the exact spot where he crashed on his Brough Superior Limited motorbike (the exact location remains a mystery but it's reportedly somewhere near Pallington Farm). Some might think he's a fictional character due to all the films made about his life but T E Lawrence was actually a British Intelligence Officer born in Wales but resident in Dorset, who fought alongside Arab guerrilla forces in the Middle East during the First World War. He later worked as an advisor to Winston Churchill and then for the RAF.

Oakers Wood

Highlight • Forest

The Jubilee Trail passes through this glorious woodland on a wide track. Admire the mixture of trees, including some oaks, and listen to the raucous birdsong. The path passes Oakers Wood House (or Okers), a Grade II-listed, 18th-century farmhouse.

Bryants Puddle Heath

Highlight • Trail

Bryants Puddle Heath is a mixture of forestry plantations and open heathland. There are myriad paths here and plenty of wildlife, making it a lovely place for an amble in the sunshine.

The heath is bordered by other heaths and large tracts of woodland, some of which is public access land so you can actually walk for miles and never cross the same path twice. The Jubilee Trail passes across this heath after leaving the pretty Oakers Wood.

Lawrence of Arabia Memorial

Highlight • Monument

ing north along a narrow footpath from the small car park situated 400 yards to the south of Clouds Hill on the road to Bovington.

In the car park is another memorial to Lawrence placed there in 1983 by Tom Beaumont who served with Lawrence in the Arab Campaign.

The road no longer follows exactly the same route as it did in 1935. It has been realigned since the accident and is wider, with the dips levelled out.
