Nice to look at. Immediately to the left behind the gate you will find top-class garden catering, connected to your own butcher's shop. And still great offer for vegetarians ... Delicious with asterisks

Mitter Gate, Kelheim

Highlight • Monument

The tour leads through the Mittertor back to the old town. The defense tower, built in the 14th century, originally had a gable roof. There was a vestibule on the outside until 1869. A mural was attached to the inside of the city gate in 1904, depicting the capture of the Austrian occupation by master butcher Kraus on December 12, 1705. The original of the painting is in the National Museum in Munich.

Hall of Liberation, Kelheim

Highlight • Monument

The Liberation Hall in Kelheim is one of Bavaria's most impressive monuments. It towers visibly on the Michelsberg above the Danube and is a true statement in stone. King Ludwig I of Bavaria commissioned the construction to commemorate the victories against Napoleon during the Wars of Liberation (1813–1815). At the same time, it was intended to be a symbol of the unity of the German tribes – which, at that time, before the actual founding of the empire, was a very modern and political idea.

Hall of Liberation, Kelheim

Highlight • Monument

The Befreiungshalle, which towers over Kehlheim on the Michelsberg, can be seen from afar. Although it is not directly on the Panoramaweg, since this starts or ends directly in Kehlheim, you should take some time to visit the monumental memorial.

King Ludwig I had the structure built in the middle of the 19th century. From the viewing terrace, which can be reached by elevator or 125 steps, you have a fantastic view over the Danube, Altmühl and Kehlheim. Inside the magnificent building, you can admire 34 victory goddesses made of Carrara marble.

A small catering establishment in the immediate vicinity also invites you to linger.
