Further research into the meaning and purpose of the large pile of stones has shed some light on the darkness. So it was learned that this pile was probably once intended as a small "observation tower / platform".
Was originally a little higher and the platform was adorned with a correspondingly high ring made of the same stones as a railing. Since the surrounding trees were not yet particularly high, there was a wonderful all-round view. Allegedly was z. B. Mellnau Castle and the Amöneburg to see.
The stones were collected by forest convicts (people who were to be punished for forest crime / wood theft) or defaulting debtors to the forest administration.
More details emerge in particular from the obituary of a forester from the Battenberg area, who, along with others, decisively initiated or drove the construction.
