Matting Danube Ferry

Highlight • Bridge

What a nice way to cross the Danube! The current of the river will take you to the other side, controlled only by a rope. Simple and yet terrific.

Not only the view of the castle, but also a detour up to the castle ruins is worth it!👌 Steep approach, but doable, just be brave!🚴🏻‍♂️ Great view from there and even the remains of this building are impressive!

April 19, 2025,Tour nach Donaustauf (Radgruppe)
Today, I went on a ride to Donaustauf with the recently "founded" cycling group (currently a loose group that found each other on Facebook). The plan was to visit the Barbinger restaurant afterwards, but due to an accident (a broken rear derailleur), the tour was abruptly interrupted and the beer garden of the Posthotel Donaustauf was chosen instead.

Beautiful Danube tour, if only the way there. The second part from the Walhalla back to Bad Abbach is rather boring. Next time I would simply go back along the Danube.

This time the tour was not navigated and recorded with Wahoo, but with the help of the Komoot app on the iPhone and the Apple Watch.
For some reason …

A significant part of the route was done on foot. The visits to various buildings were also time-consuming.
About 85% of the route was very easy to drive on. All in all a nice route with interesting buildings.

Despite the announcement of a thunderstorm, we only got a few isolated droplets and reached our destination dry. Some rain came in the evening.

Delicious breakfast in the Inselcafe, after there was no bread service or bakery nearby on our campsite. Later a nice bath in the Danube just before Regensburg and a walk through the very beautiful old town of Regensburg.

The last day on the Danube to Regensburg. Rewarded today for the violent tour yesterday with a stroll through town and several cappuccinos. Finally cycled to the Walhalla and took some culture with you. The building is very impressive, but from a different time
In the end it was more than 60 km
