Bird Hide at Carsington Water

Highlight • Structure

Bird hide alongside the walking and cycling routes around Carsington Reservoir.
Open to all. Inside there are seats, information on the birds you might see and some remote cameras you can operate to see birds further away. There are a couple of feeding stations right next to the windows so a good chance of seeing small feeding birds.
Quietness needed in the bird hide!

Carsington Water

Highlight • Lake

If you are looking for an easier life cycle around the reservoir anticlockwise as this way you get the harder part out of the way in the first half of the ride and have an easier end to the ride when you might not have so much energy left.

RAF Quadrant Tower, Carsington Water

Highlight • Historical Site

The RAF Quadrant Tower, Carsington Water, Derbyshire
By the shores of Carsington Water, Derbyshire stands this 1940s-built brick and concrete structure, known as the "bomb Tower" or more correctly, the "Quadrant Tower".

The whole valley is now a vast reservoir, (opened in 1992), but in the 1940s and 50s was used for bombing practice. This tower, and a sister, now lost under the waters, were used to plot & triangulate the position of the "hits"
