March 4, 2024,Hermannshöhen Teutoburger Wald (Hörstel - Tecklenburg)
In dry but still quite hazy weather we went back to the Hermannshöhen today, from the hiking car park at the Million Bridge / Hörstel to the Bismarck Tower near Tecklenburg - and back again.
The paths were very well walked, only a few muddy passages... 👍

After a nice overnight stay next to the church in Hörstel, there are shopping opportunities on the way back to Hermannsweg. At the confluence of the Mittelland Canal and the Dortmund-Ems Canal, we come across the white H on a black background again. Now the path follows the Teutorücken. It's easy going up and down all day. Unfortunately, the alpine …

The second stage of the Hermann Heights takes us from Hörstel to Tecklenburg.

It begins at the westernmost foothills of the Teutoburg Forest and is entirely dedicated to the theme of "forest bathing." Unlike yesterday, today we hike through beautiful mixed forest, with a few exceptions, such as when crossing the Mittelland Canal at the Wet Triangle. Therefore, the asphalt …

Walked one of the beautiful stretches of the Hermannsweg. The wonderful weather underlined the impression. Mostly walked forest paths. The route was appealing. The route is recommended.

On the second stage of the Hermannshöhen from Hörstel to Tecklenburg you pass the beautiful village of Brochtebeck. The small town center with its beautiful mill pond is worth a detour. Another highlight of the tour are the Dörenther Klippen. The rock formation is great for climbing, for young and old.
All in all, a highly recommended tour. ⛰️🥾🏞🌞

On the ridge trail, which is well signposted with an H, it went along numerous viewpoints and rock formations. However, the numerous wind turbines spoiled the view of Münsterland for me.
There were …

I slept wonderfully in the old walls in an unusually soft bed!!!

Around 10:30 PM, the visitors of the open-air stage passed by under our window - but then peace returned to the small medieval mountain town of Tecklenburg.
Germany's largest open-air music theatre with 2400 seats is performed here, and the town has the largest puppet museum in NRW. …
