Wörnitz Gate

Highlight • Monument

The Wörnitztor with its humpback squares from the Staufer period is the oldest of the four city gates. At the end of the 14th century the tower was raised. The renaissance gable with bell tower dates from the 16th century. On the outside, as on all four city gates, is the coat of arms of the imperial city of Dinkelsbühl - three golden ears of spelled on three hills. The imperial eagle is also shown as a symbol of imperial immediacy.

German House (Dinkelsbühl)

Highlight • Historical Site

The Deutsches Haus, originally Drechsel Haus in Dinkelsbühl, is a half-timbered house, essentially from the 15th century with a facade from the late Renaissance 1593/94. It is the ancestral home of the patrician Drechsel family.[1] Today there is a hotel with a restaurant in the house. The German House stands on the Weinmarkt between plastered houses. With its ornate carvings, it is one of the most important town houses of the German Renaissance and sets itself apart from other residential buildings in Dinkelsbühl.

The German House has also made it onto a postage stamp. Look at the picture.

Dinkelsbühl Old Town

Highlight • Historical Site

With its romantic half-timbered houses, the massive and completely preserved city wall, the narrow streets and the lively market place Dinkelsbühl seems to have sprung directly from a fairytale movie. No wonder that many different films have been shot here over the years. In the 1960s, even an American film crew was guests, who used the picturesque city as a backdrop for the film "The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm".

Rothenburger Gate

Highlight • Monument

The Rothenburg Gate Tower, built around 1390, is adorned on the city side by a stepped gable decorated with pilaster strips. The pitch holes in the gate passage and the porch, a so-called barbican from the 16th century, with the bay windows testify to the defensive strength of Dinkelsbühl. On the second floor there are former prison rooms and a torture chamber.

Segringer Street and St. George's Minster

Highlight • Historical Site

Through the Segringer Tor you come down the cobblestone to the hall church of St. Georg. There are many beautiful, colorful half-timbered houses to the right and left of the street, simply beautiful to look at.
