Very nice building with a wonderful view of Burgk Castle from below. After the bridge turn left and you will get to the Jägersteig. Nice hiking trail.

Ziegenrück on the Saale River

Highlight • Settlement

Ziegenrück is simply a small, sleepy place between the Thuringian seas. The food is very good and there are countless beautiful cycling and hiking trails. A detour is worthwhile.

Once a vacationer stronghold, in GDR times. Not so anymore. A beautiful place located in the valley. The Saale flows through the middle

August 7, 2024,Saaleradweg 2.Tag Blankenstein - Saalfeld
The day was amazing. I pushed my bike more today than I have in the last 25 years. Now cycling has a whole new meaning for me. 😅 1000 meters of elevation gain in a good 60 km is huge for me. It was still nice. 🤗

Day 1 of our Pentecost trip first along the Saale cycle path, from Rothenstein to Saalfeld by train, then on with the pedal bike to Blankenberg, past the Thuringian seas... wonderfully sweaty, exhausting, but just awesome...

It had rained during the night. So the tent had to be packed wet. 💦 On the second day I took my time, which I also had because I left the campsite at 8 a.m. First of all, it was difficult to get breakfast because the route did not lead through larger towns. So I had to improvise. My supplies …

Stage 3 of the Saaleradweg!

This was the most difficult stage of the Saaleradweg so far because the entire route had to be ridden, there were no other descent stations on this tour.
Also the route profile was very demanding.
Likewise there was a ferry trip, as well as a rain shower!

Today, of course, I got back on my bike 😀

But if I ever want to cycle the entire Saale cycle path, I will never cycle this part of it again! I didn't like it at all, unfortunately, but everyone has to make up their own minds.

Day 3 of our bike trip through the country 🇩🇪, our first morning with steel blue skies. ☀️☀️☀️ What a gift! 😍
This tour is characterized by fantastically beautiful Saale reservoirs, violent ups and downs, painful food shortages and the suffering German Forest again and again.

Without recharging the battery I wouldn't have managed the elevation gain today, the cycle path doesn't usually run along the Saale. You have to cycle over the hills again and again. But the supply situation was better today than yesterday! There were also slight technical problems today, after charging the battery the electronics went crazy, then I plugged the bike …

Today's 30th stage covered 89.98 kilometers from Saalfeld (TH) to Töpen (BY).

The stage was characterized by a lot of ups and downs, magnificent views, and perfect cycling weather.

It took me through the Thuringian Slate Mountains Nature Park, and the "cycle path" mostly ran "parallel" to the Saale River and the reservoirs. Parallel, however, didn't mean riding at the …
