Beautiful but narrow bridge. Just keep cycling if you don't want to get into trouble with cars.

There are several different cycle routes in this trail, this one appears to be an old railway line. It has a flast, fast surface. Walkers commonly use these cycle routes also

Wylam Main Road Parking

Highlight • Parking

Easy enough to park in the parking bays on the main through road in Wylam. Best to keep an eye on the car door when open as regular traffic does need to get past

Countryside Footpath

Highlight • Trail

Travelling west the map shows a path that can be followed only when the field is cut. It's more a pedestrian path. You can still turn south anyway

Still cold but lovely track in the early morning spring sunshine! Used Dewley underpass but, OS map indicates a potential.

George Stephenson's Birthplace

Highlight • Monument

George Stephenson's birthplace is a simple stone worker's cottage on the north bank of the River Tyne in Wylam, built circa 1760 to house mining families, and where the future railway pioneer was born in 1781. A Grade II* listed building owned by the National Trust, it is now a historic house museum with original furnishings and displays about Stephenson's childhood and early locomotives, and is opened to visitors by costume guides who wish to experience the living conditions of a Georgian mining family.
