Since the Wegelnburg is practically on the doorstep of my country inn in Nothweiler, I still attached it today. A truly fantastic spot on this earth - and I had it all to myself 🙏

Castle ruins near Nothweiler and Schönau.
The Wegelnburg is 572 meters high, stretched out on a mountain ridge. It is the highest castle complex in the Palatinate with a panoramic view of the Palatinate Forest/Northern Vosges Biosphere Reserve.
The imperial fortress was in the 12./13. century built. Remains of gates, buildings, large rock chambers and ring walls worth seeing.
