Old railway bridge over the Ihme River

Highlight • Bridge

A nice old steel bridge. Whether it's a MTB highlight, well 😁 !? You can definitely drive over it without getting your feet wet.

Seven-Meter Pond

Highlight • Lake

It is unclear why the pond is called "Siebenmeterteich". It is neither seven meters long nor seven meters wide nor seven meters deep.
Like most of the surrounding ponds, the fishing waters of the Hannover Fishing Club e.V.

Koldinger Lakes

Highlight • Lake

The Koldinger Lakes in the southern Leineaue are something special and always worth a walk. Expansive bodies of water, green-lined shores, honking geese and chirping birds amidst relaxing silence. It takes about an hour to explore the area on designated paths. It is hard to imagine that in this idyllic area, just a few years ago, wheel loaders, bulldozers and dredgers shaped the landscape.

The Koldinger Lakes are a second-hand habitat. It was created by intensive soil extraction. For over 40 years, gravel and sand were mined here and processed into high-quality aggregates for the construction industry. The legacy: around 190 hectares of water surface, spread across a good dozen lakes. Due to its great importance for flora and fauna, especially for birdlife, the lake landscape has been under nature protection since 2001. Besides the Steinhuder Meer, it is the most important bird resting area in the region.

To make the area an experience for people, accessible and explorable, the Region of Hanover has, among other things, created a circular hiking trail around the Großer Koldinger See, set up an observation tower on its west bank, and created a north-south route connection towards Ruthe, along which Route 15 of the FAHRRADREGION HANNOVER runs from the Maschsee through the Southern Leineaue.

Historic Leine Crossing

Highlight • Bridge

In this corner you can cycle, hike or go for a walk. The good thing is, if you do not feel like it, you can shorten your tour. If you still have some time to go on, you just drive on and leave Komoot 😉 lead.

Döhrener Masch

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Quiet traffic, good pavement and easy to drive, there is a good alternative to the Maschsee if you don't want to drive so much on the road.
