The Gohlitzsee offers a wonderful landscape with non-overflowing natural beauties. It is fed underground and is very popular with anglers because of its abundance of fish. A walk or a hike around and on the Gohlitzsee is recommended, for example along the Willibald-Alexis hiking trail. In 2009 a summit cross was erected in the larch grove, a small clearing lined with spruce trees.

There are various legends surrounding the Gohlitzsee, reminiscent of a memorial stone in the OT Rädel. According to an ancient story, the village of Gohlitz is said to have sunk here. According to a legend, the church bells can be heard at midnight on bright full moon nights. Indeed, extensive archaeological work in the 1970s and 1980s unearthed numerous valuable finds from a lost culture.

At the Gohlitzsee there are two bathing spots in Lehnin and one in Rädel.
