Belchen House

Highlight • Mountain Hut

When the weather is nice, the inn is very full due to the cable car. It's self-service - you place your order at the counter and you get drinks straight away. If you want to eat, you have to announce the table number and the food will be brought. This worked extremely quickly during our visit. You take drinks from the bar. It's a simple menu (potato salad with Wiener, schnitzel fries, soup of the day). The cake is delicious.

Richtstatt Hut

There are benches inside the hut. At the front on the gable under the roof there is a weather-protected opening as a vent.

View of the Wiesental valley

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Wiesental is a valley in the southern Black Forest, named after the river Wiese. The Wiese is a right tributary of the Rhine. It rises at the Feldberg and flows out near Basel. The Wiesental was one of the earliest industrialized areas of the former Grand Duchy of Baden and an important production site for the textile industry.

With the exception of the two Swiss municipalities of Riehen and Basel at the mouth of the Wiese and the municipality of Feldberg with the Wiesenquelle (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district), the Wiesental belongs entirely to the Lörrach district. It stretches along the 55-kilometer course of the meadow in a southwesterly direction from the Feldberg (where the meadow rises at around 1200 m above sea level) to Basel (244 m above sea level). Approximately in the middle of the valley, below Schopfheim, the meadow joins its largest tributary, the Kleine Wiese. The Kleine Wiese is created near Tegernau by the merger of the Köhlgarten and Belchenwiese, its valley is known as the Kleines Wiesental.

The largest town in the Wiesental is Lörrach with around 49,000 inhabitants, followed by Schopfheim with around 19,000.

Located at the top station of the Belchenbahn. In my opinion, the trail offers better views.

October 30, 2022,Schwarzwald Wandern: Aufstieg zum Belchen
We've been to Badenweiler for short breaks a number of times. But we have not yet hiked on the Belchen. That should now change in golden October.

Let's start in Badenweiler by car up to the Neuenweg and then to the parking lot below the Haldenhof. The start begins at about 915 meters and takes us about 6 km along …

Golden October: sun and 20 degrees! 😎 So let's get up on the promising Belchen (1414 m).

We take the sunniest and most comfortable climb from the Heubronner Eck over the Hohfelsen.
The path rewards us with wonderful views of the valleys and with a view up to the Alps 🏔. We enjoy the sunny summit and can't get enough …

October 2, 2021,Kleine Belchenrunde
Today we used the great weather again for a little pleasure tour on the Belchen from the hiking car park "Im Mond".
On wide paths it goes to the Hohkelch, from there over the well-known paths to the Belchenhaus. Hardly something going on today and yet again super-friendly service, that strikes me again and again here👍
A short detour to …

Wonderful views along the way and a wonderful all-round view of the Belchen.

Today the weather is finally right and we dare to hike to the Belchen. We park the car at Heubronner Eck.

And off we go, of course, uphill. Past the "Dekan Strohmeyer Chapel" up to the "Richtstatt Schutzhütte".

At the old border wall we decide to take the rock path. This takes us to Lünzmannplatz. This vantage point lets us …

Today I went hiking on the most beautiful mountain in the Black Forest. I'm always fascinated and inspired by the Belchen. This is where my passion for hiking originated. It was my first hike and my first summit climb in fourth grade. Even then, I was totally enthralled, and it still influences me today. No matter where I've hiked or …

Above the clouds with slightly frosty❄️ temperatures and a bright blue sky. A slightly gusty breeze💨 coming from the 🇨🇭Alps was our constant companion. Unfortunately, the view of the Alps was +/-0😬. Start at the Im Mond hiking car park🅿️ via the Dekan-Strohmeyer Memorial Chapel, Richtstatt and Hohe Kelch to the Belchen summit〽️. A dream✨️
