Twin Peaks Connector Trail ⛰️

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

What a view of San Francisco.
Definitely take a jacket or sweat shirt with you - the wind can get violent. Sometimes you have bad luck with the view because it's foggy, we were lucky.

Fairy Gates Spring ⛲️ Mount Sutro

Highlight • Natural Monument

In one of the wildest parts of San Francisco, you'll find diverse vegetation and some truly off-the-beaten-path trails. To get an idea of the area, a hiking tour that starts well below the area at the Laguna Honda Reservoir is recommended. Then walk up Clarendon Ave to Christopher Drive and then up two steep flights of stairs to Bair Ave and then on to Interior Greenbelt where you will be rewarded with a great view. You can walk around the Sutro Native Plant Nursery and then take some trails around the UCSF enclosure towards Belgrave Ave. Hop off at the top of Stanyan St for incredible views!

Fairy Gates Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Fairy Gates Trail is a narrow and short singletrack. Like most other trails in this park, it traverses an improbably lush forest setting. In one or two spots, it holds trail features that could be of black-diamond difficulty level.

Mount Sutro summit ⛰️

Highlight • Summit

The view from Twin Peaks is absolutely insane. Definitely on par with Griffith in LA and just as iconic. Photos can't really show the full depth of field you get here.

North Ridge Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

At one of the hairpin turns on North Ridge Trail one can discover a part of an old car wreck

Historic Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This trail is a medium-width singletrack that winds all the way around this hill as it climbs toward the peak at a moderate slope, not exceeding 10% grade by very much. It's not a technical trail at all. This trail is the one whose surprise discovery has led to all the stories you may encounter about a forgotten trail network being rediscovered on Mount Sutro. We owe the rehabilitation of this historic trail and the existence of all the other ones in this park to the Sutro Stewards volunteer group.

Christmas Tree Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

Christmas Tree Point is a North and East facing viewing platform on Twin Peaks, the second highest hills in San Francisco with surround views in all directions. With an elevation of about 925 feet located near the geographic center of the city, they are only 3 feet lower than 928 foot Mount Davidson. The east-facing part of the former figure-8-road circling around both peaks is now closed to cars and offers great views of the city. I'd recommend to bike up the quieter West side and zip down on the other as in komoot.com/tour/10004664 .

Laguna Honda Lake

Highlight • Lake

The narrow canyon and the lake are a lush and tree-shaded oasis worth exploring. The road can feel a little narrow without shoulder, but has a sidewalk for stopping to see the reservoir/lake.
