May 18, 2023,Nahe-Radtour: Idar-Oberstein - Bad Kreuznach
In May 2021 we rode the Nahe Cycle Path 🏞️ upstream from Bingen to Kirn. This time we wanted to test the other direction (downstream) and change the route a bit.
We have therefore moved the starting point from Kirn to Idar-Oberstein. Unfortunately not a particularly good decision: between Idar-Oberstein and Kirn the cycle path is mostly alongside the road …

Another beautiful stretch of the Nahe Valley Cycle Path.
Unfortunately, up to Kirn, the route was almost entirely on the road (thankfully, it wasn't as busy today, as it was a holiday) or directly alongside it, so it wasn't that nice...

The cycle path along the Nahe is marketed as one of the top cycle paths in Rhineland-Palatinate, but what is offered in sections between Idar-Oberstein and Kirn is cheeky, dangerous and absolutely not recommended, especially not with children. Signage in places poor, then it's on the pavement through an industrial area with spontaneous side changes, then directly on the fast-traveled …

Really nice. The stage offers so much to see and do in between. Only those who want to go further drive past 😋

1 bike tour for this year from Idar Oberstein to Bad Kreuznach on the Nahe cycle path.
I had done the route several times in the past and had fond memories of it.
It's ok for cycling, but for a really nice tour or if there are children with me, I can currently use the path. do not recommend. There …

We have already cycled along a few rivers in Germany and so of course made a spontaneous comparison:

We didn't really like the first half of this Nahe cycle path from Isar-Oberstein to Bad Sobernheim: The cycle path doesn't run close to the Nahe, but often runs for longer stretches along a busy road. You can only see the river …
