The Turkish stones are located near Hadersdorf-Weidlingau, Vienna 14, approx. 300 m away from Mauerbachstraße, on Stadtwanderweg 8, in the immediate vicinity of the Laudon tomb.

The Turkish stones remind of the struggle with the Turks for Belgrade. After Field Marshal Laudon liberated Vienna from the hands of the Turks in 1769, he had the gravestone of the Turkish commanders set up at the Constantinople Gate at this location as a memorial to victory. The area still belonged to the properties of the nearby Laudon Castle.

One gate plate shows the signature of Sultan Mahmud I, the other announces his fame.

At his own request, Loudon was finally buried in the "Turkish Garden" (a small piece of free-growing nature) in Hadersdorf in a crypt (with a mound of earth) that led down ten steps, but not in the Ottoman marble coffin that had been brought back from the conquest of Belgrade. In 1791, Loudon's widow Clara ordered an antique-style grave monument from Franz Anton Zauner with numerous military symbols, a Latin inscription and a life-size seated, mourning soldier in armor. The burial site on the edge of the Loudon property, with the atmosphere brought about by the "wilderness of the area itself", was chosen at the suggestion of F. H. Füger.
