Beautiful castle ruins with a wonderful view. There are various hiking trails to the Kunitzburg. It is recommended to just walk along the horseshoe, then you come to the beautiful Jenzig.

Gently rolling valley, from Kunitz to Lasaan. Probably one of the most dreamy and romantic places in Thuringia. No matter what time of year. Always pure magic.

January 23, 2023,Kunitzburg/Jenzig so winterful 🌨❄️🌫
Without any prospects or foresight, we trudged through the barely touched snow of the Hufeisenrunde. The fog didn't allow a view of Jena, but the snow put us in a good mood and made our cheeks red, just wonderful.

Today was great hiking weather, so I put on my backpack and went and spontaneously decided to walk the horseshoe circuit. At first the city was still in fog, but the fog quickly disappeared. In front of the Kunitzburg there is a sea of Märzenbecher, simply wonderful. So now the dogs are broken and of course we are too😅

Jena with the Jenzig (Matterhorn of the Saale Valley)
A beautiful, steep hike along the Dinosaur Trail to the inn at the summit. The city's juggernaut disappears with every meter of elevation.
Then a long, quiet stretch follows good paths to the ruins of Kunitzburg Castle. The return route via Kunitz, with its beautiful bridge, is paved, past Thalstein Castle …

It says on the gate in front of the castle: FMA: Fernmeldestelle Arnstadt

A dream tour with a fantastic landscape and beautiful nature. Although I grew up in Jena, I have only done this tour partially and much shorter as a child. Would repeat them anytime. Just fantastic. The start and finish was at the Jenzig campsite, which is also highly recommended.

A great hike. For them there should be a certain basic condition.
The start of the hike is in a dead end street where you can park.
From here it goes up to Jenzig on the dinosaur educational trail.
There is an inn at the top with a great view.

In Jena there are many beautiful hikes that can be walked several times and so you can see a lot in the deep valleys. No matter what time of year, with a picnic in your backpack - no problem. There are many places to linger.

Good day,

straight to work with a hiking backpack, so there is a greater likelihood that it will really work out and that I will not give in to myself with the usual excuses:

Too late to go
Too far
Too cold
Too wet
Too foggy
Too unfunny
Too few pubs on the way.
