Sculptures by Willi Weiner:
Beziehungsweise Amphoren, 2008, 216 x 126 x 88 cm, Corten steel.
Vessel and gesture, 2010, 185 x 134 x 81 cm, Corten steel.

"The sculptor Willi Weiner does not rely on mass but on skin, on the surface that encompasses the body. He welds Corten steel into thin-walled hollow bodies that resemble columns and vessels, but also represent mountains, islands, lakes and can thus represent the hardest and the softest. His metal objects are improvised and are not characterized by geometric perfection.
The sculptor likes to contrast the brown rust of the oxidized metal surfaces with monochrome painted areas of color, thereby strengthening the painterly character of his sculptural objects. Atmosphere forms the core of Weiner's airy forms. They have history in themselves - they are surrounded by stories."

Sculptures "Stone chairs"

Highlight • Monument

Three stone chairs of different sizes near the Schinderklinge: "Larissa Verde", "Staying Seated" and "The Little Black One". "The preoccupation with the "chair" is an integral part of my repertoire. I have been dealing with this topic since the 1990s.
We think, dream and govern from the chair. The chair shapes the posture of the person sitting. With the chairs, especially the small-format ones, I am not concerned with their functionality, but with an individuality of form - a kind of
self-discovery of a useful object. The three chairs that can be seen on the "SCULPTOURA" were created in 2022 as part of the "Einsitzen" project. It is a participatory project with the Mauern öffnen association, in which inmates of the Bremen prison worked on chairs made of stone under my supervision. The first largest
chair is made of serpentinite, the second of limestone and the third of basalt. The stones were cut using core drilling and cutting and grinding machines. The outer shape of the chair was left unfinished and all machined surfaces were polished."

Highlight • Structure

Insect hotels or insect houses are artificially created shelters, nesting and overwintering aids for insects. This one is located directly on the cycle path between Weil der Stadt and Merklingen at the supposedly highest point, namely at 420 meters above sea level.
