Train station in Adda Valley. Morbegno is an ideal starting point for the Passo San Marco.
The train station even has an elevator to the other platform.👍🙏

Gerola Alta

Highlight • Settlement

Gerola Alta is one of the best known and most beautiful orobic centers. Post, as it is, between high and low valley, at 1050 meters, it represents the center of gravity of the Bitto Valley of Gerola, the westernmost of the two large and famous valleys of Bitto (the other is that of Albaredo). To go up to Gerola, you have to take, in Morbegno, the former state road 405, now a provincial road, of Val Gerola, detaching from the ss. 38 dello Stelvio, on the right, at the first traffic light at the entrance to the town (for those coming from Milan), and following the indications. After 7 km of ascent we meet the first village of the valley, Sacco, and after 9 the second, Rasura. After passing the Pic tunnel, we also pass Pedesina (km 11.5) and a second tunnel near the Val di Pai, and in the end we are in Gerola (m. 1050), 14.5 km from Morbegno. The road leads directly to the central square of the town, where the ancient trattoria Pizzo Tre Signori welcomes us. Continuing, we find, on our right, the beautiful parish church of St. Bartholomew, which took on its current appearance after the restorations of 1796 and 1928.
