The Brielle post mill has a special history. During a restoration of the Brielle ramparts in 1973, two large lumps of stone were found. These turned out to be dice (foundation) of the post mill that had stood here in the 17th century. The Molenstichting 't Vliegend Hert was then established, which ultimately ensured that the mill was rebuilt in 1985. The mill's three lofts are special: the middle (grinding) loft, the upper (stone) loft and the lower loft (the hell).

I passed through Brielle last year on my cycling tour of the Netherlands, but due to the really bad weather, I couldn't really do much here. It's amazing, everyone here seems to have a boat on their doorstep...
