Church of San Stefano, Domo

The old church of Santa Maria Assunta was mainly Romanesque in style and developed along a single nave. According to the documents, although it dates back to the 12th century, it has undergone significant renovations over the centuries. The small window on the right wall overlooking the piazza is from the original church.
In 1783 the church was renovated - as we see it today - and reopened in 1795.
The church of Santa Maria Assunta has several high quality frescoes inside. In addition to the high altar, two other altars are also painted: the one on the left wall is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary and the one on the opposite wall to St. Anthony the Abbot. The current shape of the two chapels, in which the altars are located, date from the second half of the 18th century.
The church also houses a precious organ that comes from the collegiate church in Castiglione Olona. It dates from the beginning of the 17th century and was later restored.
