Monte Palanzone (1,436m asl) is one of the main peaks of the Lariano Triangle, second in height only to Monte San Primo.
The peak looks like a grassy pyramid that rises along the Como ridge. From afar it can be recognized by the presence of a pyramidal chapel.
It can be reached easily from the peak of Sormano or from Alpe del Vicerè. In this case you have to take into account a minimum of effort to overcome the steep final slope.
The itineraries that start from Caslino d'Erba or from Asso on the east side or from the hamlets of Faggeto Lario on the west side are longer and more demanding.

Marelli Memorial

Highlight • Monument

The Cippo Marelli is located in the Larian Triangle, more precisely on Mount Palanzone, in the Lombardy Prealps, in the province of Como. This commemorative monument is dedicated to Pietro Marelli, a partisan who fought during the Italian Resistance in the Second World War. The monument was erected in memory of his sacrifice and of all those who fought for freedom.

The monument is located along a hiking trail that leads to the top of Mount Palanzone, and is an important stop for those who hike these trails, which also offer spectacular views of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains. The route that leads to the Cippo Marelli is characterized by fairly challenging mountain sections, but a visit to the monument is a good opportunity to reflect on the history and sacrifice of the partisans, while enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds the area.

The Cippo Marelli is a destination of historical and cultural interest for hikers and for those who want to learn more about the history of the Resistance in the Lombardy Alps, immersed in a mountain environment of great charm.

The scenic trail between Capanna Mara and the summit of Monte Bollettone (also known as Sentiero delle Colme) is one of the most spectacular and frequented sections of the Larian Triangle. Walking along this grassy ridge, you can enjoy an exceptional view that simultaneously spans the lakes of Brianza to the south and Lake Como with the Grigne and Resegone to the north.
