Klaus Garten Memorial Stele

He went to the Teltow district Seehof, whom he knew from his army time. There he climbed about 21 clock over the rear fence of the border installations. In order to prevent a discovery by West Berlin policemen present, they did not take Klaus Garten to a hospital, but also hid themselves. Finally, they brought the provisionally connected to the one-hour detention hospital of the Ministry of State Security in Hohenschönhausen. There he succumbed to his injuries due to the high blood loss the next day.
