Quellenhof Covered Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Between Sorgente and Saltusio, this wooden bridge is a great way to cross the Passirio stream by bike or on foot. Easily, looking towards the river, you might notice people canoeing down it.

Passeier Cycle Path - spa town of Merano to St. Leonhard in Passeier
The 19 km long Passeier Valley cycle path leads from the spa town of Merano to St. Leonhard in Passeier
The Passeier Valley cycle path is mostly flat and along a slight incline through the wonderful landscapes of the Passeier Valley. The refreshing Passer accompanies the cyclist along the entire cycle path. The starting point is the spa town of Merano: from the thermal spa square, we head east through the Elisabeth Park into the Passeier Valley. Always continuing on the right bank of the river, we soon leave the city area. The path is still asphalted here, later it becomes a gravel path.
Above us on the right we see Schenna with the castle, the church and the mausoleum of Archduke Johann. On the left are the villages of Tirol, Kuens and Riffian. We have already covered half of the route past Saltaus. We cross the river several times as the cycle path changes sides of the bank. At Quellenhof we drive past the golf course and continue to St. Martin.
When we arrive in St. Leonhard in Passeier, we have reached the end of the cycle path. On the way there we pass the Sandwirt, the birthplace of the legendary freedom fighter Andreas Hofer. Here the MuseumPasseier awaits us with all its special features and valuable contemporary witnesses to the history of Tyrol. Worth seeing!

These decorated altars are a special feature in South Tyrol and are called Easter graves.
They are always set up during Holy Week, the week before Easter. Colored balls filled with water are placed around the Easter grave. Glowing candles or burning paraffin lamps are placed behind each glass ball. The glass balls shine brightly and bathe the grave in …

With the kids 😀 a tour first with the bikes 🤩 to St. Leonhard then on foot towards the gorge 😁
Unfortunately we couldn't walk the gorge completely because a thunderstorm was coming up🥺
Anyway, we're back on our bikes and full throttle to St. Martin 😁 there's an ice cream for the kids and an iced coffee for us …

After Corona it was the first tour by bike for a long time. I definitely noticed that.

Although we didn't go all the way to Meran - on the way we noticed that we didn't take any small change for ice cream 🍨 and beer 🍺 so we turned about 3 km before Meran and drove back.
We will repeat …
