Constitution Fountain

Highlight • Monument

Beautiful circular fountain located right at the beginning of the Virgen de Linarejos promenade. It is formed by several jets located in a cup that pour the water on itself.

In the center of this beautiful fountain we can find a white marble base, and on it sits the monument to the Constitution, made up of a woman representing the 1978 Constitution, and holding in her hand a dove that takes flight like symbol of peace and freedom.

In my personal opinion, it is a fountain of great beauty due to its design, and above all due to the great meaning that its creator wanted to give it.

Virgen de Linarejos Promenade

Highlight • Structure

Paseo de Linarejos is one of the most important streets in Linares. It is 500 meters long and 30 meters wide. It consists of a central street and two narrower side streets. It shows a varied vegetation in its gardens. The lampposts are cast iron in the modernist style, made in the San Antonio de Sevilla foundry in 1881.

Tiled benches display old photographs of the city. At its northern end is the Glorieta de América, where the Monument to Andrés Segovia stands.

Plaza de Toros de Linares

Highlight • Monument

The Linares Bullring, also known as the Santa Margarita Bullring, was built in 1866, and inaugurated a year later with a Miura bullfight, with the presence of the swordsmen Antonio Carmona, "El Gordito" and Manuel Carmona , "Baker".

The most well-known and outstanding event that occurred in this arena is the death of the bullfighter Manolete in August 1947, gored by the bull Islero. Next to the gang gate there is a ceramic and marble plaque commemorating that tragic afternoon at the fair.

It has a ring 50 meters in diameter and its alley 1.30 meters wide. It has a capacity of 10,500 spectators.

Linares

Highlight • Settlement

The municipality is located in the central zone of the province of Jaén, between the eastern sector of the Sierra Morena and the upper part of the Guadalquivir river depression, for which reason two well-differentiated sectors can be seen: the mountains and the countryside. Linares enjoys a privileged geographical situation due to its condition as a crossroads and its agricultural, livestock and mining wealth. The municipality of Linares is located in the Sierra Morena region, of which it is the capital, occupies 14% of its surface and represents 58% of its total population. The city is 49 km from Jaén, 119 km from Córdoba, 136 km from Granada, 247 km from Málaga, 251 km from Seville and 293 km from Madrid.
