A pier has existed in Bournemouth since 1856, when a wooden jetty was constructed over the sea. Over the 19th century, the structure was slowly improved and extended. By 1905, the pier was 1,000 feet (304 m) long.

Today, the pier has lots of restaurants and amusement attractions for all ages. It's a great place to watch surfers in the sea. The pier is open daily from 9am until around 11pm.
