Since the weather forecast for Lienz was much better, I decided on the Karlsbader Hut.
The lower section of the trail was closed due to forestry work – I was expecting to turn back, but the work was suspended at the time, and walking through was no problem.

The hike to the Karlsbader Hut is a real highlight in the Lienz Dolomites. The trail is well-marked and varied – first through idyllic forest, later over alpine terrain with impressive rock formations.
