Lock 58 on the Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal

Highlight • Monument

The canal has lost its former purpose and is now used for recreation and fish farming.
Always well attended, it's also wonderful here.

Gustav Adolf Cave

Highlight • Cave

The Gustav Adolf Cave is located below the Gsteinacher Felsenstraße directly on the Schwarzach. This wonderful place in the Schwarzach Gorge (Schwarzachklamm) was already visited by the Swedish King Gustav Adolf II during the Thirty Years' War, which can be seen from the memorial plaque placed there.

Karl's Cave

Highlight • Cave

The Karlshöhle is one of the two large cave-like washouts that were formed due to the erosive action of the Schwarzach. It is one of the highlights on the way through the gorge, which has been a nature reserve since 1936.

Fascinating how much the Schwarzach has eroded the sandstone here

It is not for nothing that the Schwarzachschlucht has been awarded the seal of quality “Bavaria’s most beautiful geotopes”. Through the gorge, where the small river pushes its way between the rocks, there is also a beautiful path that leads along the Schwarzach. Easy to walk on, sturdy shoes are recommended, the path leads past beautiful and bizarre rock formations, as well as two caves and a spring. Adventure playground for young and old.

Nice, short and relaxed hike along the LMD canal and along the Schwarzachklamm. The detour from canal to gorge was not worth seeing but the gorge is, as always, very beautiful!!

Nice walk in the sunshine....and new winter hiking boots inaugurated 😃

There were hardly any hikers out today. From the Bruck Canal through the Schwarzachklamm, which is now somewhat muddy. Nothing has changed here. The rocks and caves are all still in the same place. In Schwarzenbruck, we visited the squirrel rescue center. Here there was only one enclosure with about 10 squirrels. We continued to the old LDM canal, past …

Nice tour. To recommend. Stop in the beer garden "Brückkanal" 🍻

The Schwarzachklamm is simply a dream at any time of the year. The icicles in their diversity are simply beautiful to look at. But be careful, it is partially as smooth as glass. We went back along the old canal to the Brückkanal car park. 👍👍

Nice, short tour through the Schwarzachklamm and along the Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal, the predecessor of the Main-Danube Canal.

A wonderful hike from Schwarzenbruck along the historic Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal past a number of locks and lock keeper's cottages to the canal bridge over the Schwarzach and then back through the impressive Schwarzach Gorge to the starting point. And if you have more time and desire, you can stop off at the beautiful restaurant on the Brückkanal and let yourself …
