View of Rivington Reservoir

North of this dam is the upper Rivington Reservoir, the lower reservoir is to the south. There are also two more reservoirs to the north which form this chain of four reservoirs. Built between 1852 and 1857 the reservoirs provide water for the surrounding Wigan area although they were originally built to supply Liverpool.

A wonderful cafe in a cruck barn that was built in 1706. It has been used as a cafe and managed by the same family since 1953.
They serve a nice selection of drinks, breakfast, lunch and cakes.
