Source of the Danube

Highlight • River

Here in the Princely Palace Park is the source of the Danube. But not only the origin of the Danube is worth seeing, but also the Princely Fürstenberg Palace and the pretty city center, where many cozy cafes and restaurants invite you to linger.

The seepage point is a little further downstream. It's interesting to see how the water simply disappears underground.

May 13, 2023,Donauradweg Etappe 1 Donaueschingen-Tuttlingen
Started in Donaueschingen today and drove to Hausen im Tale. Somehow my watch always saved when I pressed pause for a longer time, so 3 tours 🤔 It's on beautiful bike paths, away from traffic, in very good condition, mostly flat, always along the beautiful Danube. The signage is also exemplary 👍

So from here we start what we planned to do, namely the first two most beautiful stages (so they say) on the young Danube. Here Donaueschingen and the Danube seepage is interesting.

The km stone says: 2779 km to the mouth and 898 km through Germany.

Unfortunately left very late. Today's destination was Mühlheim an der Donau.
It's just a pity that of the 50 km with 40 km strong headwind slowed us down.
But otherwise a super nice route. Hardly on roads and mostly on bike paths.

Showing Translation

A very nice route. Except for 3 points also very well signposted. Fantastic landscape and plenty of opportunities for rest areas (with and without food).

Showing Translation

wonderful hilly landscape, then easy back along the Danube Cycle Path
