Haddorfer Lakes

Highlight • Lake

If the weather is fine in spring, it's a great holiday feeling. Hundreds of tadpoles cavort in the shallow clear water.

Haddorfer Lake Heathland

Highlight • Natural

The juniper heath is a special feature of this area. It is the remnant of a large heath area that was here 120 years ago. There are no longer so many juniper heaths in the Münsterland. Therefore, this protected landscape should be viewed with particular care.

The mosaic of heather, juniper bushes and open sandy grassland is particularly attractive to visitors when the common heather is in bloom. When the weather is nice, tiger beetles scurry across the warm sand and wood lizards sunbathe.

Bench with a View of the Heath

Highlight • Viewpoint

Beautifully laid out paths with seating and rubbish bins. In fact, everything is clean. At the weekend (Sunday) there was of course a little more going on with the great weather.

Today we walked around the Haddorf gravel pit lakes. The weather was perfect, around 20 degrees Celsius.
One of the lakes is a swimming lake with a large beach area and lawns. The lake landscape was created by gravel and sand mining. The Stovern Forest borders our holiday home.
To round off the hike, I had fried fish and Uschi …
