/
The City of Emeryville will be constructing a new South Bayfront Bridge over Union Pacific Railroad tracks for pedestrians and bicyclists and a new linear park, Horton Landing Park between January 7, 2020 and around October 2021.
The South Bayfront Bridge will connect Ohlone Way and the Bay Street area with Horton Street across the tracks. The bridge will span 227 feet and pass over Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way.
The new Horton Landing Park will be built on the east side of the train tracks. It will be a new addition to the Emeryville Greenway. Pathways in the park will connect the bridge to adjacent streets at Horton just south of 53rd St. and near Stanford Ave. The greenway within Horton Landing Park will connect to a future greenway that extends southward to Sherwin near Halleck St.

Emeryville and Berkeley have marked and signposted a dense network of bicycle boulevards on existing residential neighborhood streets, which are already quiet and have been further calmed with speed humps and narrowed by painted-on bike lanes. Horton-Overland continues straight to the Emeryville Amtrac Train Station. However, an even better route for north-south travel begins just a couple of blocks north off the Horton Bike Boulevard, turning diagonal north-east onto the old railroad right of way.
