A beautiful section of the trail around Hirschhorn. At the "forest sofa" near Hirschhorn, with its view of Hesse, you can sign a boundary book. A great idea from the forestry staff!

Great view over the Neckar to Neckarsteinach and the four castles. The path is firmly gravelled, so you can ride well even with thin road bike tires.

June 17, 2022,Neckar 6 Haßmersheim - Heidelberg
Day 5 of the 18th bike tour. Sure, the start was in Heilbronn. Due to the long distance to Heidelberg, a train journey to Haßmersheim was initially planned. There is the castle of Götz von Berlichingen. However, the S41 was an interurban tram. In the end, 9 bikes bumped into each other. With consideration that was not a problem and …

Unfortunately I didn't manage to track the whole tour to Stuttgart over 166 km (my passenger's speedometer). At least I was able to track the first part until shortly after Haßmersheim and from Haßmersheim part 2 to Favoritepark Ludwigsburg. In the last 30.6 km, the smartphone unfortunately ran out of breath. Well, I was also happy to reach Stuttgart main …

A cycle tour along the Neckar is also a pleasure when it is very hot if you drive up the Neckar on the right-hand side, as the forests reach down to the bottom of the valley. The sight is always a beautiful sight when castles and palaces appear on the slopes above medieval towns. A detour to the Margaret Gorge …

After the first attempt literally fell through, we're off to a good start today and are making good progress.
There is a lot to see along the Neckar. Various castles and ruins show up and want to be admired.
Today we arrived:
Heidelberg Castle schloss-heidelberg.de and
Zwingenberg Castle, to name just a few. The prospects are simply beautiful, even if …

A wonderful day through the Neckar Valley. Here you can forget everyday life and unwind. 🤩🥰

We sat out the first two downpours with a shandy and a snack. During the third and heaviest downpour, which we didn't see coming because we were in too much forest, we got soaked to the skin. The tree we had chosen couldn't save us ☹️. The water just ran down the trunk.

The last day of our three-day tour was quite relaxed in terms of kilometers, but riding half of it in the rain wasn't exactly fun.

But all in all, it was three enjoyable days of cycling.

Showing Translation

Actually, it's a very nice tour. However, for long stretches—especially between Hirschhorn and Neckargemünd—the bike path consists of bumpy forest paths with lots of loose gravel, which somewhat detracts from the fun of the ride.
