From 1934-1936, the Reichsarbeitsdienst (National Labour Service) built a moderate ascent (forest path) from Großbottwar to Neuwirtshaus (continuing to Burg Lichtenberg or the Hochstrasse). Approximately halfway along this route, this memorial site was created. A cast-iron plate on the stone pillar commemorates the unit that built the path.
